How the travel industry is adapting to new conditions, and where you should definitely go on a trip when the borders open (and possibly earlier) – read in our guide.
The world paused. But this does not mean that we cannot travel – virtually. And dream of new trips when the epidemic is over. Moreover, the best hotels in the world urge not to abandon plans for at least the second half of the year (and maybe already at the end of summer!)
Most temporarily introduced the most flexible booking mode. All reservations made in April and the coming months can be canceled without penalty – the money will be returned in full. Or – reschedule – no later than 24 hours before the expected settlement, on any other date. The largest business tourism agency Aeroclub launched a free service covid19.aeroclub.ru with constantly updated information for travelers and travel managers for the pandemic period – about the status of borders in the world and hotels in the Russian Federation, measures to support Russian travelers who are stuck abroad, conditions for returning airline tickets and issuing visas for the duration of the pandemic. By the way, even in the current unpredictable situation, hotels urge hunters “to change places” not to stop dreaming and making plans. We will travel again – “We will travel again” – the new slogan of one of the largest hotel chains Marriott. And many resorts like the new Chenot Palace Weggis on the shore of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, operating under the system of Dr. Henri Chenot, the Nikki Beach Montenegro beach complex or the new Iniala Malta luxury hotel have not changed their plans either. The first two hope to open in June, and the third in early July.
In those hotels that continue to operate or have already opened, they have introduced increased sanitary security measures. The standard at the beginning of the pandemic was set by the Chinese. For example, in a huge hotel complex with 828 rooms, LN Garden Hotel Guangzhou in Guangzhou in southern China (the third largest city in the country) quickly installed thermal imagers that automatically record the temperature of guests entering the hotel (and do not let anyone else in there). If there is any suspicion, they are sent to a medical office in the lobby for an express test for coronavirus. Of course, all 9 restaurants in the hotel switched to room service. As, for example, in the Hotel de Paris and Monte Carlo Bay in Monaco, where restaurants, bars and spas are closed, and food can be ordered only in the room. Travel experts predict the end of the buffet era – at least for the foreseeable future. When the tour sector comes to life, food in restaurants can be ordered only a la carte, and between the tables, and also, most likely, between the sunbeds on the beach, they will significantly increase the distance. Of course, in all open hotels antiseptics are spread everywhere, employees, almost twice a day are required to measure the temperature, work in masks and disposable gloves. Kitchens, lobbies, rooms and other rooms, in addition to conventional disinfectants, are also treated with bactericidal lamps, and air is quartzized and ozonized.
For those who want – and can afford – to insulate themselves – or isolate, for example, elderly parents in comfortable conditions – or those who are “stuck” on vacation in another part of the world with the inability to fly home, many hotels offer big discounts on long-term stays. Some Russian hotels also offer quarantine in their rooms on special conditions – the price for a month will be approximately the cost of renting a one-room apartment. Such options are, for example, in StandArt boutique hotel (the only Russian hotel – a member of the prestigious association Design Hotels) – they offer special packages for those who wish to isolate themselves for 3, 7, 14 or 28 days with full service, as well as in a five-star hotel “ Helvetia ”in St. Petersburg. Travel industry experts, by the way, predict that at the end of the pandemic, private apartments and villas will be in demand first of all, rather than large hotels. By the way, in order to avoid crowding, many of them, perhaps by the end of the year will be open only by a third.
In some countries – for example, in Australia – citizens who arrived from “dangerous places” or with the slightest suspicion of the presence of the virus are also sent to quarantine in hotels. True, it is difficult to call a stay there a vacation: guests are not allowed to go anywhere and have personal contact with anyone, and catering companies often deliver food similar to airplane food. In San Francisco, about 100 five- and four-star hotels urgently opened “quarantine rooms” for contacting health workers — their accommodation and meals there are paid from the city budget. In Madrid, more than 60 thousand beds were converted into hospitals, in London, 300 rooms were allocated, where they will temporarily place … homeless people to limit their transmission of infection. In early April, Four Seasons Hotel New York, among several other top-rated hotels,
Summer will be extended!
One of the most popular hashtags on social networks now is #staycation – “travel from home.” There are a lot of options for armchair travelers. Hiking in the most mysterious corners of Easter Island, Patagonia glaciers (Chile 360º mobile app), the Grand Canyon and other reserves, virtual tours of the main museums of the world (artsandculture.google.com), online parties with DJs from Ibiza nightclubs (project #StayAtHomeSessions from #ushuaiaibiza), cooking classes from Michelin-starred chefs and more. Every day at 11.30 Moscow time, Cecilia Rolland, a nutritionist, coach, yoga, and pilates trainer at the Metropole Monte-Carlo, conducts free training on her Instagram @cherishednomad. Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts has launched #StayHomeWithJumeirah with yoga and fitness tips, as well as relaxation from their spa specialists, plus games and developmental activities for children, as well as training videos on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah helipad. Club Med Company on its website and social networks offer a lot of entertaining video content for all ages. HotelAnantara Kihavah Maldives Villas hosts a round-the-clock underwater online broadcast of the Kihavah Coral House Reef home coral reef, while the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group launched a podcast channel on soundcloud.com , where famous writers read their own stories there. All of this, of course, will not replace our real experience and emotions from real impressions, but at least you don’t have to pay for #staycation. And we may need money for trips soon. Rumor has it that if the measures restricting our movement around the world last for a few more months, summer, in turn, may be delayed: seasonal resorts, which usually close in September and early October, may work much longer this year. – at least all of October and November.
